Introduced in June 2021, the city of Essen has implemented an open data management system called The Destination Hub.Ruhr. It is used to help improve the visibility of all tourism-relevant data as well as improve networking around tourism offers. Available on various German tourism platforms such as DB Ausflug and the ADAC Trips app, the data is to be made accessible both throughout North Rhine-Westphalia and the German National Tourist Board’s Knowledge Graph, thus providing important information to a broader range of visitors.
